NORTH JOINS NORTHERN RAIL

Jo North joins Northern Rail this week as the company’s new Commercial Director.
 
Jo joins Northern Rail following an extensive and varied career, most recently as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Bus Division of FirstGroup plc, where she was involved in the development and implementation of commercial strategy including customer research strategies and the introduction of national direct sales team, the first of its kind in the UK bus industry.
 
Heidi Mottram, Managing Director, Northern Rail said: “I’m delighted that Jo is joining us to lead our Commercial team, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role.”
 
Jo will be responsible for the company’s commercial activities such as marketing, communications and revenue management.  She will also be the prime contact for the management of the franchise agreement with the Department for Transport.
 
Jo North commented: “This is an exciting time to join Northern Rail.  Nearly two years into the franchise performance is improving, independent research shows passenger satisfaction has increased, passenger journeys are up by over 10 percent and
additional carriages are being introduced to keep pace with growth, with hopefully more to come.
 
“I am looking forward to working with the team at Northern and, in partnership with our key stakeholders, to build on these successes.”
