NORTHERN INTRODUCES NEW NOTTINGHAM ? LEEDS SERVICE
12th December 2008

Northern Rail is introducing a new hourly service calling at all stations between Nottingham, Sheffield and Leeds.
The first regular direct service between the two adjacent regional capital cities for 25 years begins on Sunday 14 December and will serve passengers at:
- Nottingham
- Langley Mill
- Alfreton
- Chesterfield
- Dronfield
- Sheffield
- Meadowhall
- Barnsley
- Wakefield Kirkgate
- Leeds
Providing a journey time of two hours between the two regional capital cities, the new service will also open up new opportunities for passengers travelling to / from intermediate stations.
One of the real winners in the new timetable is Dronfield, which to date has had an infrequent service off peak. This is set to change with the new hourly service continuing through the day.
Heidi Mottram, Managing Director, Northern Rail said: “We are delighted to be launching this new service. We’ve a strong track record of serving our passengers across our existing network in the North of England and we’re looking forward to bringing this to communities along the Sheffield – Nottingham route.
The new timetables are available on the
Nottingham timetables or
Leeds timetables page on this website. For more information about services are available from staffed stations or by visiting
