IS Manager Interview

Hello I’m Sandeep

I work as a Manager for Northern in the Information Services Team.

I have worked at Northern for over 2 years now – gosh it’s flown by!

My role involves spending time with people working in different departments like Safety and Commercial. I get to travel around a lot on Northern trains, I love it, I am a mobile Manager!

I work with Northern staff and other Managers to meet there IS requirements. I listen and get feedback and get involved in projects, there is always plenty to do and get involved in.

In our team everything we do must add value to the business, its forefront in my mind every day! This really challenges me and makes me think is what I’m doing meaningful? We really work hard trying to make a difference.

I love the fact that my job is mobile, I’m office based but I get to travel lots, just my Blackberry and me! I can work on trains, platforms - anywhere!

I would say no day has been the same since I started with Northern; I get to meet lots of different people from different communities and backgrounds. At Northern we are like one big family.

My role is very busy, sometimes there are not enough hours in the day, I love making a difference though, I get to do that in my job and it’s very satisfying.

Since I’m from a different country working for Northern has given me an opportunity to travel around and meet people from all different backgrounds, I’m not sure I would have had that chance working for another company. Northern has also allowed me to have much more commercial awareness too, I feel this has made develop as an individual.
