Expressions of interest are sought from suitable restoration contractors interested in tendering for the restoration of Kirkgate Station, Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Contractors shall have experience of projects of a similar size and nature, although Network Rail link-up accreditation is not an essential requirement. This project is part-financed by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund through the Yorkshire and Humber Competitiveness and Employment Programme 2007-13.

Project Description:
Grade II Listed Kirkgate Station in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. A restoration of the Grade II Listed Kirkgate Railway Station in Wakefield, West Yorkshire by Community Charity Groundwork Wakefield.

The project shall create new offices for approximately 50 members of staff, create 6 business incubation units for new business start-ups and a new café and retail space to improve rail passenger facilities. The project is being designed to meet BREEAM Excellent accreditation and the highest standards of Architectural restoration are anticipated. Interface with Network Rail and the Train Operator will be required throughout the restoration process.

Construction Period:12 Months.

Contract: JCT 2011 Standard Building Contract with Quantities

It is anticipated that there shall be a Contractor’s Design Portion within the package of works.

During the final procurement tender stage cost and quality evaluation will be carried out. The details will be contained within the tender documentation. The quality evaluation will be focused on a contractors approach to the delivery of the contract. An interview may be required during this stage to clarify elements of a contractor’s contract approach.
