MARTIN Ostler has become the first Barrow Raiders player to get his hands on the Northern Rail Cup this season - and he hopes he is not the last.
The popular second rower went head to head with Widnes Vikings hooker Mark Smith on Blackpool's Golden Mile as the two sides continue the build-up to their final clash at Bloomfield Road on July 12.
And, with ticket sales reaching fever pitch for both clubs, Ostler is determined to make the Barrow supporters happy and bring the cup back to Craven Park.
"I hope I can get my hands on it again next month," Ostler said of the silverware.
"I would think we would probably be favourites, but that doesn't help on the day, they have just had a good win against Halifax.
"It's great to be in the final, it's something all players want to play in.
"There is going to be a really good atmosphere there, there will be a lot of Barrow supporters there to cheer us on - it will be a good day and we want to give them a good performance.
"If we can play like we did the last time we played Widnes then we won't have a problem."
Widnes sold 1,500 tickets - of an initial 2,500 allocation - within a day of putting them on sale to season ticket holders, while Barrow have almost sold their second block of 900 tickets, on top of the 1,480 in the first batch.
Raiders chairman Des Johnston is in talks with other Championship clubs about the possibility of taking some of their allocations, with vice-chairman Dave Sear saying he hoped there would be a total of around 3,500 tickets for Barrow fans come finals day.
With such demand from both sides, the RFL have decided to open up the East Stand at Bloomfield Road for the match, though that is uncovered.
