Pay on the day for Northern Rail 9s

8th July 2009

Supporters who have not yet secured their tickets for this weekend's inaugural Northern Rail 9s competition in Blackpool are advised that they will be able to pay on the day at Fylde RUFC for the 9s tournament which sees 18 clubs from the Co-operative Championships in action.

Tickets for the Northern Rail 9s which kicks off at 12:00pm on Saturday 11 July at Fylde RUFC with Featherstone v Halifax on Pitch One and Blackpool v Rochdale on Pitch Two will be available from the ticket office at the ground and will cost £10 or £5 for concessions. These tickets also allow entry to Sunday morning's fixtures.

The ticket office will open at 10.00 on Saturday with the entrances opening at 10.30 for a full day of Rugby League 9s action with Leigh and York due to contest the last match which is scheduled to kick off at 6:30pm.

On Sunday morning starting at 10.30am, the knockout rounds of the Northern Rail Nines Trophy and Plate competitions will again take place at Fylde RUFC. However, the finals of both competitions will act as curtain raisers to the Northern Rail Cup Final between Barrow Raiders and Widnes Vikings which kicks off at 5.15pm and is live on Sky Sports 2.

The Northern Rail Nines Plate Final will kick off at Bloomfield Road at 3.00pm, whilst the climax to the Northern Rail Nines Trophy competition will be at 3.50pm.

All clubs will pick their strongest squads of 15 players to take part in the competition and all will have to get used to a number of different rules to the traditional 13-a-side game.

During the game unlimited substitutions are permitted to ensure a fast, free flowing game, try conversions take the form of unchallenged drop goals, and when points have been scored the game is restarted with a tap from the centre of the halfway line by the team who have just conceded.

In the event of a penalty, a tap is taken 10 metres in advance of where the infringement took place and the referee can also sin-bin a player for five minutes for misconduct.

Tickets for the Northern Rail 9s tournament are currently available from all participating clubs for the discounted price of just £9.

Supporters who have purchased tickets from the clubs that qualify for the Final of the Northern Rail Trophy or Northern Rail Plate will be entitled to a complimentary ticket to the Northern Rail Cup Final.

To claim these tickets supporters will need to bring their Saturday tickets from the Northern Rail 9s to the Ticket Office at Bloomfield Road on Sunday July 12 (ticket office opens at 12pm).

Supporters who have purchased tickets from clubs who do not qualify for either Final will be able to purchase tickets (subject to availability) at a discounted price of £5 for Adults or £2 for Concessions.

To take advantage of this offer supporters will need to bring their Saturday tickets from the Northern Rail 9s to the Ticket Office at Bloomfield Road on Sunday July 12 (ticket office opens at 12pm).
