Northern Rail 9s

Championship 1 club Blackpool Panthers won the inaugural Northern Rail 9s on home soil with a thrilling 14-10 victory over Sheffield Eagles.
Two tries from winger Damian Munro put Blackpool 10-0 up at half-time but the Eagles struck back through Jonny Woodcock and Menzie Yere to draw level before Dean Thompson grabbed a last-minute winner for the Panthers.
The Northern Rail 9s was held at Fylde RUFC on Saturday and Sunday with the Finals played at Blackpool's Bloomfield Road as a build-up to the Northern Rail Cup final between Widnes and Barrow.
Halifax won the plate with a 24-20 victory over Gateshead Thunder thanks largely to a hat-trick of tries from James Haley.
