Where to purchase
Rail Rover tickets can be bought from any staffed station in Great Britain. Please note they cannot be purchased on trains.
Time restrictions
Rail Rover tickets are available for travel on trains timed to depart after 0845 Mondays to Fridays and at any time weekends and Bank Holidays. The following exceptions apply:
- North Country and North West Rovers are valid on the Cumbrian Coast line (Barrow-in-Furness - Carlisle via Whitehaven) at any time.
- North West Rovers are valid from Lockerbie to Carlisle at any time.
Using a Rail Rover ticket
You can use your Rail Rover tickets on all train companies' services shown on the maps leaflet below except for Grand Central and Hull Trains.
7-Day Rover tickets are valid for 7 consecutive days' travel. 4 days in 8 consecutive days Rovers are valid for travel on 4 separate days. They can be any 4 days within the 8-day period but you must write the date of travel in the boxes issued with your Rover ticket before travel on each of the days.
Railcard and Child discounts
Railcard discounts are available on our Rover tickets, where conditions of the railcard are met. Children 5 - 15 years old inclusive travel at half the Adult fare.

If you'd like to travel for just one day, then try our Day Ranger or Round Robin tickets. Each one covers a specific route or defined area and allows you to hop on and off trains all day.
