Northern is passionate about community involvement. We have more community partnerships than any other train operator and we pride ourselves on always being at the forefront of new ideas and ways of doing things.
In 2007 we were named the 'National Example of Excellence' by Business in the Community for our work with rural communities. We were also the overall winner at ACoRP's national Community Rail Awards.
Northern supports community projects - recently we helped fund raise the installation of a statue of cricketing legend Fred Trueman in Skipton
We support community rail partnerships on 23 of our routes, with over 50 station partnerships.
We support a range of fun events: music trains, station festivals and depot galas right across the north.
Our work with children and young people has won dozens of prizes and accolades.
We are proud of being at the heart of where the railway began.
We have an ongoing programme of naming our trains after 'Great Northerners'.
