Engineering and planned improvement work

Details of engineering works, disruptions and planned improvement across the Northern network.

Engineering works to maintain and improve the rail network usually take place overnight and at weekends. When these works take place, alternative transport such as bus services will be provided in place of trains and journey times are likely to be extended. From time to time, major engineering works can disrupt services for longer and we'll provide details of those on this page in advance of the works taking place.

Online journey planners, such as National Rail or our App are the best place to check whether there are any changes to trains due to engineering works or amended timetables.

Transpennine Route Rail Upgrade - TRU improvements hub here

Trains between Leeds, Dewsbury and Brighouse

As part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade, tracks are being replaced in the Morley area. On the following dates, Northern trains will be diverted or replaced by buses.

Leeds to Wigan trains will be diverted between Hebden Bridge and Leeds, via Bradford Interchange. Buses will replace trains calling at all stations between Leeds, Dewsbury and Brighouse.
